WJ-006 passed on 2026-09-12 and the same commit failed on 2026-10-03, in Firefox, waiting for the calendar day "1 September 2026, Tuesday".

The month dialog carries the first of the month containing today and its overlay opens there, while Vaadin marks every other rendered month aria-hidden, which takes those days out of the accessibility tree. The typed date could not help: the emulated phone is below Vaadin's fullscreen threshold, where the picker's text field is read-only. While today fell inside September 2026 the wanted month was the one already in view, so the step passed without ever selecting anything.

The step now reads the displayed month from the heading, navigates the overlay by keyboard the way it offers month navigation, and asserts both the focused day and the committed value. Confirmation stays on the calendar grid, so the keyboard commit of the mobile calendar remains covered.

Branch build green: c78715a, habit-month-picker@branch, 10:15. Local pipeline green with unchanged counts: 68 operations tests, 257 JVM cases with 46 skipped and no failures, 22 Firefox scenarios, 7 production-JAR scenarios, 20 frontend tests. No production code changed.

Free the month selection from today's date

WJ-006 waited for a calendar day that the picker's accessibility tree
did not expose. The month dialog carries the first of the month
containing today, its overlay opens there, and Vaadin marks every other
rendered month aria-hidden. The typed date could not help: the emulated
phone is below Vaadin's fullscreen threshold, where the text field is
read-only. While today fell inside September 2026 the wanted month was
the one already in view, so the step passed without selecting anything.

The step now reads the displayed month from the heading, navigates the
overlay by keyboard the way it offers month navigation, and asserts both
the focused day and the committed value. Confirmation stays on the
calendar grid, so the keyboard commit of the mobile calendar remains
covered. Day cells are matched by pattern, because Vaadin appends its
today suffix to the current day.

Local pipeline green with unchanged counts: 68 operations tests, 257 JVM
cases with 46 skipped and no failures, 22 Firefox scenarios, 7
production-JAR scenarios and 20 frontend tests.
