Compatibility

This lists the version combinations that a functional test actually ran. Nothing else is claimed to work.

Tested combination

First tested on 2026-10-01 (PR#2).

Component Version
Gradle (wrapper and fixture) 9.8.0
Gradle PIT plugin info.solidsoft.pitest 1.19.0
PIT (pitest, pitest-entry) 1.30.0
PIT JUnit 5 plugin 1.2.3
JUnit Jupiter in the fixture 5.14.4
JaCoCo Core 0.8.15
ASM (from PIT and JaCoCo) 9.10.1
Java toolchain (build, PIT process, bytecode target) 21
Kotlin Gradle plugin and compiler, fixture kotlin-basic (PR#61) 2.4.21, jvmToolchain(21)
Build scripts of the fixtures Kotlin DSL; Groovy DSL in gate-groovy (PR#63)

Notes

  • The fixture uses JUnit 5.14.4, not 6: the PIT JUnit 5 plugin 1.2.3 is built against the JUnit Platform 1.x launcher. werkcrappit's own tests use JUnit 6.
  • The Gradle launcher needs Java 17 or newer; Gradle 9.8.0 also runs on Java 25.

Kotlin/JVM

Kotlin/JVM basis methods are tested with the combination above and Kotlin 2.4.21: KotlinBasicTest, ADR 0009. The ADR lists what each Kotlin construct gives in the report and the limits for inline and suspend functions. Nothing is claimed for other Kotlin versions, for Kotlin Multiplatform or for Arcmutate.

Seen in a Real Project

A probe run on hsadmin-ng (guides/hsadmin-ng.md) worked with Gradle 9.7.1, Java 25 bytecode, JUnit 6.1.3 with the PIT JUnit 5 plugin 1.2.3, and PIT's incremental analysis. This was a manual run, not an automated test.

CodeCharta

mutation-crap.cc.json targets the CodeCharta visualization vis-2.7.0 (2026-09-28), cc.json apiVersion 2.0 (ADR 0007). Unit and functional tests validate against the schema of that release, pinned in werkcrappit-pit/src/test/resources/codecharta/, and against the viewer's checks for unique ids and siblings. The default city, with levelization (isCyclic, isPointingUpwards, node levels), is validated against the schema of CodeCharta main at 364a7449a, the source of the viewer at https://javagil.de/codecharta/; a city written with levelization = false against vis-2.7.0. Whether the viewer renders the file is a manual probe, not covered by any automated test.
